Timbalé, finalist of the Global Arts Prize 2025

The Cultural Organization Timbalé has been selected among the 16 finalists of the Global Arts Prize 2025, an international recognition that celebrates the power of art to transform communities around the world.

Art that transforms narratives

For more than a decade, Timbalé has explored how dance, music, and collective creation can become powerful tools to strengthen life stories, invite self-discovery, and spark transformative action in communities affected by multiple forms of exclusion.

What began in the popular neighborhoods of Medellín as a collective dream has now become a model of social transformation with real and lasting impact. A model where culture is not an accessory, but the starting point for young people to recognize themselves, reconcile with their history, and project themselves into the future with dignity, leadership, and purpose.

From Medellín to Latin America

Although our work was born in Medellín, the stories we hear, the struggles we accompany, and the potential we help awaken are shared by millions of young people across Latin America.

Structural violence, lack of opportunities, and emotional isolation affect neighborhoods in Mexico City, Tegucigalpa, Guayaquil, or Buenos Aires in the same way they do in Medellín, Quibdó, or Cúcuta. That is why Timbalé does not only transform territories: it also connects realities and communities that share the same language of resistance, art, and possibility.

This regional vision has been embodied in concrete experiences, such as the Emerging Leadership Program, which connected young people from Mexico City, Ciudad Juárez, and Medellín, proving that artistic creation and community knowledge can become a bridge between wounded, yet vibrant, geographies.

Collaboration that generates impact

At Timbalé, we believe that transformation cannot be an isolated effort. Since the beginning, our work has been guided by genuine collaboration: weaving together with communities, educational institutions, local governments, social organizations, and corporate allies.

This collective trust has ensured that our impact is not only emotional but also sustainable and replicable. Every young person who becomes a leader, every family that reconciles, and every community that recovers hope confirms that art is not a luxury—it is a social necessity.
